Community Singapore

Singapore Exchange: Week 4
(20-Aug-2007 to 25-Aug-2007)

Ahhh...it's the forth week and still no overseas trip (yet). But Singapore has been fun so far nonetheless. Sorry, no pictures this time around only a few words as I am getting lazier by the week.

Every other Saturday morning, I volunteer for the CSC (Community Service Club) in NUS. We visited seniors who live by themselves in apartment flats (in Kallang area), and, now I know how to mop the floor (yeah!).

We split into groups of volunteers speaking various Chinese dialects so as to make it easier to communicate with the elderly who speak them. It was nice for a change to speak in Cantonese in weeks.

Afterwards, most of the group went to a nearby hawker centre to eat lunch. Oh, isn't Singaporean food even tastier after an early morning of work?

Anyhow, I still haven't seen the Merlion in the city...isn't this what Singapore is all about after all?

Projects are starting already and tutorial sessions are beginning next week, sadly. =(
